Today I am feeling…like the house work is finally drawing to a close

This week…I have been mostly feeling shattered. Going back to work is a bitch!

By next week…I think that everything will look lovely, apart from the sofa

Did you know…On this day in 1991 – Gulf War: On Baghdad Radio Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein announces the withdrawal of Iraqi troops from Kuwait.

Miscellaneous other things include…sleeping all day and sleeping again all night sounds good right now

Search Terms of the week this week are…open university DA204 essays*, richey edwards buttons, “bbc pips” mp3, @words.txt, scanned book scribe

Blog of the week is It’s All About Me!

PostHeaderIcon Won't someone please think of the children

You may remember, if you have read my archives that I talked about naming of children and how strange the practise has become in recent years.

It seems that the good old BBC has been copying me and come up with a list of their own. Want to see the best? Look below:

Researchers also scoured phone records in the US and found some unlikely names there too.

Spare a thought for Anna Prentice, Annette Curtain and Bill Board the next time you sign your name.

A string of Americans also have very job-specific names, including Dr Leslie Doctor, Dr Thoulton Surgeon and Les Plack – a dentist in San Francisco.

PostHeaderIcon A bit pink you say, no that'll be the plaster dust

Hello there lovely people of the inter-connecty-web type place, and how have you been?

I seem to have been away for a while and I know you will have all been waiting on tenterhooks* for an update on my building work. So here’s the skinny (as they say):

Work commenced on Tuesday 10th and thus far I have had wallpaper stripped, plaster removed, damp proof course drilled and installed, dry-lining installed and gaps filled, plaster skimmed to create a flat surface and skirting boards renewed.

Tomorrow Harry the stripper comes back to finish off and either tomorrow or Thursday the decorators come in to put up lining paper and paint. I have been told they have 5 days pencilled in for the rest of the work so I am hopeful that this time next week it will all be done.

Once the work is finished I will then be able to move my furniture back into the rooms and put my art back etc. This has to be completed in time for the 14th March when I am also hoping to have had a new sofa and chair delivered and the old ones removed.

On the plus side, I have got through another chunk of my reading list for 2009. I am currently reading 3 books so should have some more additions to make soon. I have also written some poetry for my OU course which is good although I am behind with one of my courses because I’ve not had time to get to grips with it.

I went back to work yesterday after working from home on Saturday all day to a storm of problems and issues. Yesterday broke my brain (as those who follow me on twitter will know) and while today was just as busy I think I managed to cope with it better so I am pleased.

After much internal debate I have decided that I am probably not going to continue to update my dieting blog. I am happier with my fitness and shape than I have been for a long time and I just don’t see a specific weight as a priority any more. I will continue to watch what I eat and exercise well but I don’t feel like I am on a diet plan any more. I will see how that goes. I will, of course, keep it as a reminder so I can go back to updating it as and when I feel I need to.

The STB and I had a lovely Valentines Day in which we got very drunk and were asleep by 2030…12 hours sleep was a great thing for both of us.

So there you go, all caught up now I think. I might be a bit sporadic still for the next 2 weeks, again, if anyone fancies guest blogging for me then drop me a comment here or an email.

Before I go, a couple of shameless plugs are in order I think. Firstly, if you haven’t already then hop on over to The Printed Blog and sample some of the best blogging around…on paper!

Secondly, I know it’s a little out of date, but please do check out my blogroll for some truly great reading.

Finally, if you’re British and blog, or if you are in Britain and have a blog then head on over to BritBloggers and join in our fun and games
