Bloggity Roundup…5
This week on our bloggity round we have a couple of things that are a bit different so we are going to start with those.
First of all Sian explains what makes a good blogger event and as a lady who is a professional at this lark it makes for very good reading. To find out about her day job why not also try here and here
Next on the ‘something slightly different’ list is Nic aka SleepyJane and her post about the release of GirlGuides. It’s essentially geek guides for girls in decent language that we can all understand. It is a SA company/site but that doesn’t make the reviews any less pertinent.
Another post from Erin is next. Today she is talking about the death of grammar and the English language. The fact that one of the commenters actually says that no-one cares enough to change makes me mad as a bag of snakes
Another post from Blonde now and this time a man’s guide to what us ladies like as a general rule on a date/first date. Boys, it’s all about your hands and the sexy stubble.
Finally in this roundup is the lovely Nilsa who is asking about creativity and if you are creative too? To me, creativity is about finding an outlet for those parts of yourself that you can’t express in any other way. For me it’s music – something that you have to do to soothe the soul.
Hope you enjoyed this week’s roundup
Bloggity Roundup…4
I’m still working on my ABC’s as promised but in the meantime here is the latest selection of inspiring posts from around the blogosphere
First up is the woman many of us want to be Blonde and her confessional about how good it really is to live on her own. Everyone knows how much i advocate living alone as a way to really understand who you are but Blonde is right, some habits do creep in that you would never indulge if there was someone else around.
Next up is a bit of a related double whammy from Nilsa on ‘popular blogging’ and from Lilu via DC Blogs on what not to do on your blog. It’s funny how subjective some of this stuff is, especially the things about how to be popular – in my opinion if you start a blog looking to be popular then you’re really missing the point.
Now onto another post from Erin, this time about cookie cutter fashions. Here she talks about the cut and fit of clothes at low end stores, i’d be just as concerned about the fact that thousands of other people are wearing the same outfit and thinking it looked cute. It’s worth investing more money in staples – jeans, underwear, shoes and dressy-dresses and you can save money on 1 season things like t-shirts and cute summer tops.
Finally, the ever wonderful Jenn tells us about what she’s learned from old relationships, especially about herself and what a relationship should be like. It’s interesting to read about how other people view their past relationships; i try and take something and learn something from each of them, i find its the only way to stop being bitter about them essentially being failures. Seems i’m not alone there.
That’s it for the week, mwah x
7 Links
As promised, and found originally at Floor to Ceiling Books (which they found via Problogger) below you will find 7 links challenge. The idea is to publish a post that is a list of 7 links to posts that you and others have written that respond to the following 7 categories. Your links should be to:
* Your first post
* A post you enjoyed writing the most
* A post which had a great discussion
* A post on someone else’s blog that you wish you’d written
* Your most helpful post
* A post with a title that you are proud of
* A post that you wish more people had read
My first post wasn’t here, it was over at the now defunct site ‘Welcome to the World of the Bionic Yoghurt’ and it was about what i was planning on blogging about as most first posts are. It’s quite nice reading it now and realising that while i have changed my purpose for blogging hasn’t all that much.
The post i have enjoyed writing the most is probably one of my first gig reviews. IT was such a fun night and i think i captured the vibe quite well.
I don’t get a lot of comments (which i hate) but one discussion which has led to a great discussion was my being a girl discussion which led to discussions here, and on twitter about what makes a girl girly.
Next up, the post on someone else’s blog that i wish i’d written – wow there’s so many. To be honest though it was always going to be a post by Jenn that got this link. Jenn was the girl who inspired me to blog and Jenn is the girl that inspires me still.
My most helpful post is easy everyone should remember and everyone has a responsibility to make sure this never happens again.
Great post title eh? how about this one. Does what it says on the tin!
Finally, and yes i know i only posted this a couple of weeks ago but I’m really proud of this and i’d like a wider audience to hear it
So there you have it, snapshots and love to you all x
Bloggity Roundup…3
Yes, i know, i still owe you 7 links and abc’s and i am going to add more owing posts to the list today but i promise they are all coming soon.
Today, however, is the next in my series of bloggity roundups. Here’s a bit of background: I have a lot of feeds in my reader and more often than not you will find me reading lost, commenting a bit but thinking less often. So when i find a post that really makes me think, i star it up and it sits and waits for me to tell all you lovely people about it.
So, here’s this weeks list:
Kyla talks about positivity and how showing yourself more love and focussing on the good makes you and those in your life happier. I’d like to think it’s something that we can all do more of for each other
If you don’t already, i recommend wholeheartedly getting on the Amy train because this week she gets 2 posts on this list. Yeah baby! A subject that is always close to my heart is the way to be and show you are a good friend. Its something that everyone can learn from and everyone can spot if they or someone in their circle aren’t.
Amy’s second entry deals with the social media burnout phenomenon that leads to unplugging. I’ve done it a couple of times, and once you get used to not obsessively checking sites and pages it’s a relaxing experience. I think it makes you appreciate the time you do spend hooked up even more.
Now this next one isn’t Nicole’s usual stamping ground but she has been guest posting and makes some really good points over on Stratejoy about lessons we can all learn from. I especially like “Stand up for the people you love and the beliefs that move you. Let yourself be passionate, even if it means your ideas and feelings will be isolating to some. We’re not here to please everyone and there’s no glory in being watered down, overly accommodating versions of ourselves.”
and finally for this roundup, darling, lovely Nilsa talks about tech we hate. Having recently disabled commentluv myself i agree with her points there and don’t even get me started on Disqus and Blogger word verifications.
Anyway, i hope you’ve liked my roundup and i PROMISE i will post those abc’s, 7 links and a couple more thiefed things soon

Based on SoMi’s weekly Replay posts. Well i did say it was going to be a semi regular series didn’t i?
I know i still have to do the abc’s from Erin last time and i am going to add to that a 7 link challenge from Floor to Ceiling Books too.
Elsewhere Sarah talks about the badbreak rule of “When something or someone is making you feel bad, you need to make a break for it.” It’s all about distancing yourself from situations or people that you have clung onto in a misguided sense of it being the ‘right’ thing to do rather than living your life with things in it that drag you down. Its something i wish i had employed a while ago.
Finally i’m very excited about Kyla’s new role working as a designer for Freckled Nest. It’s a great opportunity and Kyla totally deserves the break on it too.
That’s all this week – mwah
