PostHeaderIcon Tweetup – Fall Down

So last night was the first ‘Manchester Girls Tweetup’ starring Elle, Paula, Julia, the pinkest of all jelly babies, Helen (who sadly went home poorly pre going out time), Smidgy, Rachael, Lou, Hannah, Vicky and I.

Morning news wasn’t good. Soupy was ill and couldn’t make the train journey so we were already a man down. Undeterred we pressed on with the out of town girls getting themselves organised and meeting up from various trains etc. Lou and i arrived at their, frankly stunning, apartment at a little after 1600, after getting lost in the roadworks and one way system of Manchester for a while and after a few awkward minutes we were all chatting away. The three ‘locals’ arrived just after five thirty and the party was well and truly ready to get started. We all got ourselves into our outfits and after some fortifying water (i was driving after all) we headed out to TV21 a 2 floor indie cafe/bar in the Northern Quarter. The music was old school proper indie with some classic Charlatans and Cure mixed in with some Kings of Leon and Killers. Of course i had dead feet after about half an hour but being a cafe bar there were plenty of seats to rest my aching feet for a while. By half eleven we’d lost the local girls (they evidently had a better offer and left, one of them without even bothering to say goodbye which was a bit rude to say the least) and a couple of the apartment ladies were ready to call it a night. So Lou and i left them to get back to the apartment and made our way home through the hideous foggy horrible night. Somehow i don’t think that was the end of the night for a few of the other girls but that’s their story and they will have to tell you.

It was a strange experience, meeting a load of girls all at once (when i’m not a girly girl at the best of times) but one i really enjoyed. Being the old and sober one was a bit of a pain because i felt responsible for making sure the other ladies were all safe and happy but that’s more to do with me than them i think. Most of the people were exactly as i expected them to be having read their blogs and/or seen their tweets for a while so that was pretty good to know.

Would i do it again, almost definitely – it was a lot of fun to meet new people and i did promise myself i was going to do more of that next year.

Oh and smidge, i owe you for 2 cokes so we’ll have to meet again so i can pay you back (any excuse, right)
